SUMMER 2016 – PART 2 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

I can sum up our time at Yellowstone pretty quick so if you're tired of reading this is the only line you need.  Yellowstone was unique, it's a science geeks dream, there are some crazy beautiful parts, the wildlife was cool but most of it was just boring dry grass. Our revised travel plans put us in Yellowstone for 2 weeks giving us two full weekends to tour the park.   You can read about our adventures during the first weekend in Summer 2016 Part 1. Our second weekend was packed with the rest of the sites of the park and then it was time to move on to our…

SUMMER 2016 – PART 1 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

This blogging thing, if you haven't noticed, I'm not very good at it.  There are so many other things to go do and see that this becomes...well, let's just say it moves down on my priority list. We really are having a blast and we've started posting some of our adventures on our personal Facebook pages because we can do that on the fly, feel free to visit us there. West Yellowstone We reached West Yellowstone in August 2016 with intentions of staying about a month. Again, another natural wonder right in our own backyard that we've never seen.  So needless to say, we were pretty excited to pull in.  We…

WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE?

I love that we are having so much fun on our journey that writing a blog post is the last thing on my mind. I love it when our family comes to visit us at any one of our random locations. I love meeting new friends and having the freedom to ensure that our paths cross again in the near future. I love that we’ve been at this for a little over 8 months and we aren’t having conversations about looking for someplace to settle down or our end game plan. I love that our level of excitement only increases with each new destination. I love hearing the stories from…

LEAVING ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

I didn't want to be an overachiever for posting too many blog updates so it's been almost two months since our last post leaving me lots of room for improvement; wouldn't you say? (I actually started this post before getting lost in thoughts about my gram.) It was with bitter sweet feelings that we left Redding the end of April headed to Crescent City, California.  The highlight of our three weeks in Crescent City was a visit from Josh, Alyssa, and Ryker on Mother's Day weekend.  We did our fair share of contributing to the economic growth of all the local tourist traps by visiting the Redwoods and hiking through the Trees…

A TRIBUTE TO MY GRAM

On May 28, 2016 at 96 years young, my gram passed away in Moses Lake surrounded by family.  She was a woman who poured her heart into her entire family and welcomed anyone who walked through her back door or spent afternoons under her carport. In these last four weeks since her passing I've been thinking a lot about friends and family. Often times we get to pick our friends, but seldom do we get to pick our family.  If I did have the choice; I'd still pick each and every one of you.  We've had our squabbles, our differences of opinion and we each lead a very busy life.…

THE NEW NORMAL

We've been in Eugene, Oregon since the middle of February and by mid last week Travis and I were all set to move further south to Northern California when we got a call from Megan asking if she and Daniel could come for a visit.  Unless it's work related, our new normal means our schedule isn't driven by any set agenda so of course our answer was YES!  It was a short trip, we picked them up from the airport Friday afternoon, spent Saturday touring the area, and they flew home on Sunday afternoon. I would like to believe that any seasoned tourist sets out on their excursion with explicit maps and…

HOMESICK ALREADY?

We left Salem Oregon last week and moved further south to Armitage RV Park along the McKenzie River in Eugene.  Despite all the rain this week it's crazy gorgeous here; it's a place that I could settle in for a while.   It's quiet, there is plenty of space between each site, and has great biking and walking trails.  The rain tapered off each afternoon allowing us to get some fresh air and go for a walk.  These pictures were taken from the path along the river. Our plan for the weekend was to get a few things done around the motorhome on Saturday and then go play on Sunday.  Saturday morning…

WHAT’S NEXT?

Our two week trail run in Tri-Cities came to an end on Sunday.   Our goal was to familiarize ourselves with the motorhome, learn how things worked, decide what still needed changed or updated, and confirm that our workstations and networks met the demands of our jobs.  With the exception of a few things, we would call our trial run a success.   We pulled up stakes and headed further south to Salem Oregon with sights set on Northern California (anyplace warmer then where I've been as far as I'm concerned). Finding routine is something that has proven very difficult these past few months, but we finally see light (and not an…

TODAY’S THE DAY!

I could finish that statement in so many ways: Today's the day we say "until next time" to our friends. Today's the day we test the waters in this decision some people have called crazy. Today's the day we set off for Tri-Cities.  I know it's not far, but you have to start somewhere - right? Today's the day we take a leap of faith and start our new chapter in life. My emotions this past week have been all over the place.  As many of you know there have been some challenges along the way and it would be easy to get frustrated and let those little challenges cause…
