We left Salem Oregon last week and moved further south to Armitage RV Park along the McKenzie River in Eugene. Despite all the rain this week it’s crazy gorgeous here; it’s a place that I could settle in for a while. It’s quiet, there is plenty of space between each site, and has great biking and walking trails. The rain tapered off each afternoon allowing us to get some fresh air and go for a walk. These pictures were taken from the path along the river.
Our plan for the weekend was to get a few things done around the motorhome on Saturday and then go play on Sunday. Saturday morning arrived full of sunshine and the promise of a beautiful day. We dropped everything, jumped in the Jeep, and headed out to the coast to spend the day in Florence. We had lunch at a cute little restaurant called the Bridgewater Fish House and Zebra Bar and then went out for a walk along the beach. A year ago (or even 6 months ago) spending a day like this would require us to go on vacation. But in this new adventure it was nothing more than an afternoon trip. What a great way to spend the day!
In contrast I knew this would happen at some point, but didn’t expect it this soon. Sunday morning I woke up so homesick ~ missing my family and friends. Missing some of the simple things that I didn’t realize I took for granted in everyday life: like my regular grocery store (shopping takes so much longer when you don’t know where anything is), or my favorite Starbucks, not having to use navigation every time I get in the car, even the stupid things like packing my lunch for work every morning or feeding the dogs. The things that made my life feel normal.
