OUT AND ABOUT
Sorry we haven’t posted for a while, it’s going to take some discipline to do this on a regular basis. Some of you have noticed there is now a subscribe option at the bottom of the page so you don’t have to keep checking to see if there is something new. So subscribe away! On March 18th we took the day off and drove 60 miles east of Redding to Burney Falls. It was a beautiful, sunny 70 degree day and the falls were very impressive. Being early in the year and a Friday there were only a few people there. Here is my favorite picture of the falls.
I was blown away at how much water pours straight out of the rock face. After we left the falls we drove to Sacramento to board a flight to Spokane to celebrate the 1 year birthday of our grandson Daniel. It was wonderful to be back in Spokane and be with family.
Saturday April 2nd we loaded up the bikes and drove 20 minutes to Rock Creek Trailhead which is on the Sacramento River Rail Trail. The trail is an old rail line that is now converted to a walking/biking trail and paved. We unloaded the bikes and were getting ready to take off when Trish noticed my back tire looked a little low. No biggie, I just mounted a small tire pump to my bike that morning so a couple pumps and we should be off. Um, yeah well not quite. Our bikes have presta valves not shrader valves like car tires so by the time I figured out the pump (it works on both types of valves but you have to “convert” it) my tire was completely flat. By the time I got it aired up all the way I was tired and we hadn’t even started riding. Fortunately the trail is along the river and flat so very easy riding. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was amazing. We rode the 9 miles to Shasta dam took some pictures and headed back just as the sun was going down. Here we are with the dam in the background.
When we got back to the Jeep we popped the top off and drove “home” enjoying the warm weather.
Life is good.
