BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

Moon Walk Lotto For 2 consecutive nights during the full moon the park has a lottery for a guided tour after dark with a telescope set up for viewing the amazing landscape. We showed up and put our names in but didn't get drawn but we weren't too disappointed because it turned out to be overcast. Bryce Canyon is at about 8000 feet so even though the weather was warm in St. George we had to put on some extra layers to protect our sun loving bodies from the freezing temperatures (it was about 50 degrees). Hoodoos The hoodoos in the main canyon look like they belong on an alien…

ADVENTURES IN ST. GEORGE

St. George Utah was our home for the month of April.  The outdoor adventures in this area seemed endless and while we won't likely return to Temple View RV Resort again, we wouldn't miss an opportunity to visit Southern Utah. IN-N-OUT Sometimes you've just got to have a good burger and may not be dressed appropriately to visit some sit down restaurants; or you've been out on an adventure and there's no Taco Trucks in sight. So what do you do?  What else, you head to In-N-Out.  This was a new experience for us because they don't exist in Spokane. Virgin River Trail system Like the name imply's, the Virgin River…

LEAVING LAS VEGAS

Time with Friends I know, we've said this over and over but it's true, one of the best parts of our adventure is meeting new friends.  We met Michael and Judy in Polson, Montana last year and reconnected with them for a couple of days at their home in Summerlin on our journey north.  It was a great time of relaxing, doing a little shopping, and just catching up on life.  We look forward to crossing paths again. Container Park Travis and I aren't big gamblers so we set out to find different things to do while we were in Las Vegas. Container Park surprised us by touting a kid friendly…

SPRING BREAK IN LAKE HAVASU

Havasu Falls One of those moments when your idea or expectations and reality are not even in the same realm.  The photo to the right was my idea of how we would be spending some of our time at Lake Havasu.  What I didn't realize until after we booked our stay was that this is a 10 mile hike into the falls after a 3 1/2 hour drive to get to the trail head AND they recommend making a reservation for a guided trip.  Lesson learned, we didn't make our reservation in the area long enough to do something like this but know that we will be back someday to make…

ANTELOPE CANYON AND HORSESHOE BEND

Off for another adventure.  We laughed when we looked back at this picture - I thought only old people dressed alike.  It must be something that happens when you've been married a long time because trust me, I don't pick out his clothes in the morning. Horseshoe Bend Horseshoe Bend is just outside of Page, Arizona and is a heavily photographed view of the Colorado river. You can't tell from the pictures but the wind was blowing so hard that it was picking up sand and exfoliating our skin. While exfoliating might sound like a day at the spa it was pretty much the opposite of a nice relaxing day at…

GRAND BABIES – GOD’S KISS FOR RAISING KIDS

It never crossed my mind to have delivering a baby on my bucket list.  But thankfully I can add it and then promptly cross it off all in one swift motion. The arrival of Miss Abigail Renae It snows in the Pacific Northwest, granted some years more than others.  But in February 2017 Spokane had loads of snow which means it simply takes longer to get from place to place.  After Daniel, Dean and Megan elected to have their next baby at home with a midwife.  When Megan went into labor on Saturday, February 4th she had knowledge and explicit instructions from the midwife on 'the what to do and…

THE YUMA THAW

After spending Christmas in Spokane the heat in Yuma was a welcome change.  We picked The Palms RV Resort from a recommendation of friends we met in Polson, Montana.  In blind faith we made our reservation for two months starting January 1, 2017;  making it the longest we've stayed in one place since we started in January 2016 - this was kind of a scary thought to us. The Park The activity schedule alone is enough to make your head spin, there are multiple choices to pick from all day, every day.  I quickly zeroed into the yoga and water zumba classes held Monday thru Friday,  what better way to meet people…

CHRISTMAS WITH FAMILY

Grandkids have ruined us!  I went to pull our pictures from Christmas and realized that they are ALL of these two little cuties and none with our own kids.  What can I say....oh, well. We spent a month and a half in Spokane between Thanksgiving and Christmas (granted 2 weeks of that was in Hawaii).  Despite only being gone for a year - that month and a half in the cold was quite the shock to our system. Christmas Our Way Having grown kids means that celebrating the holidays looks different now.  Their time is split between families and I don't ever want them to feel like they have to…

CELEBRATING IN HAWAII

Ahhh...Maui! After spending Thanksgiving weekend in Spokane with family we woke on Monday, November 28th, 2016 to snow.  Our bags were packed and we were headed to the airport with not nearly enough clothes on for the cold but we didn't care because we would soon be in paradise. Travis would tell you that he's not sure how this trip came together. But, I would tell you that after accidentally planning a surprise trip for what I thought was his 50th birthday one year early I had to do something for his real 50th.  A 10 day vacation in Maui seemed appropriate. The trip was a whirlwind, the first seven days were…

WHEN IN WINE COUNRTY

(the real wine country as in Napa) and you don't drink wine, you search out street tacos!  After a movie one night Travis and I came across this little find in Napa.                 We didn't do a lot while we were in Napa but we did explore a little bit of downtown and the surrounding countryside including Sonoma and Petaluma. We thought we had more pictures of our stay here but we can't find them. The RV park we were at was actually the county fairgrounds (Napa Valley Expo) and there were a couple events while we were there, the most interesting one…
