RECONNECTING IN REDDING

In our last post I mentioned that we were headed to Eugene, Oregon.  We did in fact spend a few weeks there to get the motorhome serviced but didn't really have any exciting adventures to share so on to Redding we go. We arrived in Redding, California in late September of 2016.  It was such a treat because mom and dad brought their motorhome down for some much needed R&R.  We filled our time together celebrating dad's birthday with close friends.  The weather in Redding was exceptionally warm so we spent one of those days lounging out on the water at Whiskytown Lake.

A WEEKEND IN WINE COUNTRY

Okay, so maybe Walla Walla Washington isn't what most people think of when you say "Wine Country".  Don't knock it until you try it, Walla Walla has an eclectic vibe, with quaint  little shops and a slew of top notch restaurants. But that isn't what made the weekend so good, it was spending time with very dear friends. We were in Yellowstone looking for reasons to leave early when we heard that Kim and Tim were making arrangements for a weekend getaway in Walla Walla.  9 hours away, no problem.  What better opportunity to find out if 'this guy' is good enough for my friend than to spend an unassuming weekend…

SUMMER 2016 – PART 2 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

I can sum up our time at Yellowstone pretty quick so if you're tired of reading this is the only line you need.  Yellowstone was unique, it's a science geeks dream, there are some crazy beautiful parts, the wildlife was cool but most of it was just boring dry grass. Our revised travel plans put us in Yellowstone for 2 weeks giving us two full weekends to tour the park.   You can read about our adventures during the first weekend in Summer 2016 Part 1. Our second weekend was packed with the rest of the sites of the park and then it was time to move on to our…

SUMMER 2016 – PART 1 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

This blogging thing, if you haven't noticed, I'm not very good at it.  There are so many other things to go do and see that this becomes...well, let's just say it moves down on my priority list. We really are having a blast and we've started posting some of our adventures on our personal Facebook pages because we can do that on the fly, feel free to visit us there. West Yellowstone We reached West Yellowstone in August 2016 with intentions of staying about a month. Again, another natural wonder right in our own backyard that we've never seen.  So needless to say, we were pretty excited to pull in.  We…

WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE?

I love that we are having so much fun on our journey that writing a blog post is the last thing on my mind. I love it when our family comes to visit us at any one of our random locations. I love meeting new friends and having the freedom to ensure that our paths cross again in the near future. I love that we’ve been at this for a little over 8 months and we aren’t having conversations about looking for someplace to settle down or our end game plan. I love that our level of excitement only increases with each new destination. I love hearing the stories from…

LEAVING ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

I didn't want to be an overachiever for posting too many blog updates so it's been almost two months since our last post leaving me lots of room for improvement; wouldn't you say? (I actually started this post before getting lost in thoughts about my gram.) It was with bitter sweet feelings that we left Redding the end of April headed to Crescent City, California.  The highlight of our three weeks in Crescent City was a visit from Josh, Alyssa, and Ryker on Mother's Day weekend.  We did our fair share of contributing to the economic growth of all the local tourist traps by visiting the Redwoods and hiking through the Trees…

A TRIBUTE TO MY GRAM

On May 28, 2016 at 96 years young, my gram passed away in Moses Lake surrounded by family.  She was a woman who poured her heart into her entire family and welcomed anyone who walked through her back door or spent afternoons under her carport. In these last four weeks since her passing I've been thinking a lot about friends and family. Often times we get to pick our friends, but seldom do we get to pick our family.  If I did have the choice; I'd still pick each and every one of you.  We've had our squabbles, our differences of opinion and we each lead a very busy life.…

TOP 10 RV PARK OBSERVATIONS

The number of people that have strollers for their pets is disturbing. You don't have to worry about how you look at the pool because this is definitely not a spring break crowd. A lot of people travel with cats and just let them wander around. There are a surprising number of women RV'ing alone. Most everyone we meet assumes we are on vacation because we don't look old enough to be retired and the idea of working full time and traveling the country in an RV is foreign to most people. You can order pizza and have it delivered to your RV. There must be some kind of federal…

OUT AND ABOUT

Sorry we haven't posted for a while, it's going to take some discipline to do this on a regular basis. Some of you have noticed there is now a subscribe option at the bottom of the page so you don't have to keep checking to see if there is something new. So subscribe away! On March 18th we took the day off and drove 60 miles east of Redding to Burney Falls. It was a beautiful, sunny 70 degree day and the falls were very impressive. Being early in the year and a Friday there were only a few people there. Here is my favorite picture of the falls. I…
